For a time, we made a Sunday habit of checking out the extension of the LIC Thrift Fair that opened up in a lot of the Astoria-Kaufman studios. Here you are doing your best Barbara Stanwyck.
It's a bit of a long walk (though not so far as the 5-mile round-tripper to Socrates Sculpture Park) but on the right route, the scenery can be lovely.
