One of the most obvious and non-conflicted agreements your mother and I had before your arrival was that we were not going to squeeze you into supposedly normative behavior for girls. Your mom's pretty awesome, and she's never let what society expects from her sex stop her from doing something she wants to do, and that's a personal value for us. Plus, we never know when we might be reusing your things down the line (if plans can be trusted, and X and Y chromosomes favor us with a little luck) so we tried initially to keep most of what we got you fairly "gender-neutral," as they say. Forest creatures and earth tones, in our particular case.
The only glitch in that brilliant plan, is that you look SO CUTE in pink!
And, just possibly, you agree.
